Davey Boyce Norris,77, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 08, 2025, at home with his precious family by his side. Davey was born in Gaston County to the late Ray and Margaret Helderman Norris. In addition to his parents Davey was also preceded in death by his brother Rodney Norris and sister-in-law Pam Norris.
Davey was a native of Gaston County born on March 5,1948 and attended schools locally. After graduating high school, he went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University. He also went on to pursue a Masters's Degree from Gardner Webb University. Davey chose a career in education where he worked as an Industrial Education Coordinator for Gaston County Public School System. Davey worked for Warlick School in Ranlo, where early on his career he started teaching and mentoring children on camping and hiking trips. He taught a great portion of his career at South Point High School -"Home of the RED Raiders". Davey always enjoyed teaching kids. He especially enjoyed his two blonde headed grand girls. He and his wife Jean made it a weekly Friday night ritual. Every Friday night, they enjoyed keeping the girls and making memories with them. He loved going on beach trips with Scott and Peggy McClure and other close friends. Davey had a few hobbies which include fishing and some occasional carpentry work. Davey and his wife Jean were members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Alexis where they raised their son Brian.
Those left to cherish his memories include wife Jean of 51 years, their son, Brian and his wife Kerri Norris of Alexis, NC. His sweet grand girls Averi Elizabeth and Kelsi Rae. Davey's niece Heather (Ben)Morris and Lily. His nephew Jason (Tami) and great nephews Wesley Norris, Spencer Norris (Bri) and Chandler (Ally) Norris and great niece Kennedy Lee. He also cherished some great neighbors, which were more like family, Emily and Larry Abernathy of Alexis. The two families raised children together and shared lots of great times. Davey will truly be missed.
A visitation will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Alexis on Saturday March 15, 2025, from 10am -12 pm to honor Mr. Norris' life. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to King's Daughters Ministry of Stanley NC. Woodlawn Funeral Home will be caring for the Norris family.
