David Eugene Spargo, 87, passed away peacefully at his son's home in Independence, Virginia on March 17, 2025. David was born in Gaston County, son of the late Ray and Virginia Keever Spargo, He was preceded in death by his daughter Carolyn and brother Jack. David was a lifelong member of the Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church where he had served as an usher and van driver. David retired as a letter carrier with the Stanley Post Office after 36 years of service. He served in the US Army and was a die-hard Carolina fan. He is survived by his son Tommy and wife Dana, a granddaughter Ava Butler, and two nephews Mike and Chad Spargo. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Dr. Danny Penny and Rev. Eric Chaney will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 East Parkwood St., Stanley, NC 28164.
