Deborah Duncan Goforth, 70, of Mount Holly, met Jesus face to face on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Stanley Total Living Center. She was born in Catawba County to Colleen Duncan Kieronski and the late Thomas Adrian Duncan. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Aaron Goforth. Deborah retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg School System as a music teacher. She later went back as a teaching assistant with special needs children. Deborah was a devoted church pianist, organist, and children's choir leader for several local congregations. She loved to volunteer for Mt. Holly Optimist baseball and East Gaston High School baseball. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Mawmaw. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Thomas Aaron Goforth and his wife Katie and William Robert Goforth and his wife Amanda; grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Liam, and Layla Goforth; bonus granddaughter, Kinsley Thurman; brothers, Adrian Duncan and his wife Amy and Donald Duncan and his wife Rita; as well as special niece Sarah Duncan; and special nephews Russell Duncan and Chris Quinn. A special thank you from the family to the staff at Courtland Terrace and Stanley Total Living Center for taking great care of Debbie. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 East Parkwood Street in Stanley. A service to celebrate Deborah's life will be held immediately following at 2:00, also at the church. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. Memorials may be made to Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 East Parkwood St., Stanley NC 28164 or South Point Baptist Church , 124 Horseley Ave., Belmont, NC 28012. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
