Dennis Dewayne Pilgrim, age 85 passed away on Tuesday January 9, 2024 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Hall County Georgia and was the son of the late Elmer and Novie Pilgrim. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Sharon Pilgrim. Dennis never met a stranger and loved his entire family dearly, especially his grandkids.
He was an avid golfer and bowler who had multiple 300's and 700's throughout his bowling career and also spent many years coaching the Junior League bowling. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 33 years Carol Pilgrim; his children: Danny Pilgrim (Gail), and Julie Okonski (Brian); his step children: James Pridgen (Julie), Michael Pridgen (Donette), and LeAnne Pridgen (Johnny); his brother Terry Pilgrim; Grandchildren: Dustin Hargett, Matthew Pagoota, Michael McDaniel, Dylan Pridgen, Nolan Pridgen, Rylan Pridgen, Jade Parker, and Shelly Bryson; step grandchildren: Karin Reed, Kristin Okonski, and Anna Okonski. Great Grandchildren: Clarklynn McDaniel, Mason McDaniel, Deanna Hargett, Carson Hargett, as well as his step great grandchildren: Matthew Smith, Landon Reed, Finleigh Reed, and Oliver Bridges.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday January 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
