Donald Bruce Grindstaff, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday May 4, 2026 at his home. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Bruce Grindstaff and Macie McDaniel Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Rita Gibson, as well as an infant sister Janice.
Mr. Grindstaff spent his career working as a supervisor in the Textile industry and retired after many years of dedicated service. He was a longtime active member of Castanea Community Church where he served his Lord in many different ways over the years. In his spare time he loved to go line dancing, play his guitar, and play softball. His family brought him great joy over the years. He was a devoted husband and adored his wife and cherished all of his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man fluent in sarcasm who had a strong sense of humor which led to him forming many long-lasting friendships throughout his life. In his younger years, he was member of the Jaycees in Stanley and was an avid Boxer.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 62 years Nancy Grindstaff; his children: Steve Grindstaff (Karen), Tony Grindstaff (Liz), and Keith Grindstaff (Kim); as well as nine grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 9, 2026 at Castanea Community Church with Pastor Bradley Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday also at the Church. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Mount Holly.
