Donnie Candler Ensley

Donnie Candler Ensley, age 71, passed away on Saturday February 15, 2025 at his home.  He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Grant Ensley and Barbara Parker Ensley.  

Donnie will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by everyone he knew.  He found joy being in the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He was known as a scrapper.  He worked 31 years at Westerns Auto/Advance warehouse in Gastonia.    This passion was always on display at his job at Harbour Freight in Gastonia.  In his spare time he enjoyed cooking and was always known as the grill master to his friends and family.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 30 years Darlene Ensley, his sister Wanda Cordell (Blair) as well as his nephew Jason Cordell.  

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday February 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday also at the Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
