Doris Collis McKinney Pittman, 96, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was born in Mitchell County, daughter of the late Dewey Earl Collis and Allie Dale Collis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Virgil Robert McKinney, and husband of 35 years, Jay W. Pittman; and her son, Joel Robert McKinney; sisters Edith Pitman, Marie Glenn and Nell Howell; her brothers Everett, Ray and Johnny Collis.
Mrs. Pittman is survived by her daughter, Karen Stewart (Charles); her step-son, Jerry Pittman; her 9 grandchildren; and a number of great and great-great grandchildren. Having raised over 3 sets of children, she was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and her church. She had a great love of Christ.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pittman is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
