Douglas Hughes Mullis, 84, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2024, at Novant Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Mecklenburg County on November 5, 1939 to the late Nellie Hughes Mullis and Perry Mullis. He was a member First Baptist Church of Mount Holly for 77 years. He retired from General Electric after 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a member of the Mecklenburg County Shriners Club, he served in the Air Force National Guard for years where he served his Country with honor. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was a beautiful person who was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda (Payne) Mullis; two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah and Courtney Mullis; one grandson, Tyler (Elizabeth) Mullis. One great grandson Levi Mullis and one great granddaughter Raelyn Mullis.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Nellie Hughes Mullis, his son, Jeffrey Dean Mullis, and brother Ken Mullis.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Mount Holly with the Rev. Jeffrey Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Church. The family would like to send a special thanks to the family and friends for their compassion and care during this time.
