Douglas Ervin Muse, 78, of Lincolnton, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born in Gaston County to the late Johnny Riley Muse and Etta Dover Muse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Muse Barker. Mr. Muse served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged in 1966. He was a life-long member of the Marine Corp League. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Robert Douglas Muse and his wife Shelia; grandchildren, Martina Muse Searcy and her husband Josh, Colt Muse and his fiance Kaitlyn Bailey Muse, Kayce Muse, and Haley Barker Glass and her husband Christopher; great grandchildren, Emery Searcy, and Johnny, Anders, and Annie Glass; and his siblings, Winfred Muse, Delores Muse Baker, and Don Muse. A graveside service, with military honors, to celebrate his life, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont. In addition to the graveside service, the Marine Corp League will render full honors at the graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, to pay tribute to Doug as he was one of their brothers. Doug served in the league as the chaplain for many years. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
