Edward Harold Jenkins Jr., 82, of Gastonia, NC, went to his eternal home with his lord and savior on Monday, March 16, 2026. Born in North Carolina, Edward lived a life of hard work, and commitment to his family and community.
A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Edward leaves behind a legacy built on the foundation of family values and a passion for his work. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Judy Barnhill Jenkins. Together, they raised 3 children: Timothy Jenkins (Karen), Andrea Shuler, and Julie Jenkins, grandchildren Roger Shuler, Taylor Jenkins and Ensley Jenkins. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward is also survived by his dear siblings, Elizabeth "Lib" Lamberth (Gary), Garry Stevens (Debbie), and Bradley Stevens (Laurie). He was preceded in death by his father Edward Harold Jenkins Sr., his mother Mary Marie Stevens, grandparents Zeb and Lula Barnes, siblings Milburn Stevens and Brent Stevens, son-in-law Roger Shuler, and stepdad James Stevens.
Throughout his life, Edward worked diligently as a diesel mechanic, at Burlington Mills and he also worked for the State Department of Transportation. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in his craftsmanship. Beyond his career, Edward was an avid collector of unique items, a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett, and a talented woodworker who crafted beautiful furniture and functional dog houses.
Faith was an integral part of Edward's life. He was a faithful member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church, where he once served as a deacon. His contributions to the church community were deeply valued, and his presence will be greatly missed. In former years, Edward also attended McAdenville Baptist, where he cultivated many enduring friendships.
A service to honor Edward's life will be held at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Gaston Memorial Park. The arrangements have been lovingly entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home.
