Emma Ruth (Lawing) Powell

Emma Ruth Lawing Powell, 78, of Stanley, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021. She was born in Mecklenburg County to the late Wilmer and Beulah Brown Lawing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Powell. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Scott Powell and his wife Christy; grandson, Tyler Powell; and two brothers, Gene and Michael Rapp. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Christ's Lutheran Church, 203 S. Main Street in Stanley. The family will greet guests from 10:30 until 11:00, also at the church, prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
