Evelyn Floyd Obituary

Evelyn Rathbone Floyd, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 28, 2025 at her home.  She was born in Newport, TN daughter of the late Carl Rathbone and Gladys Gowan Rathbone.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Floyd, her grandson Mason Caudle, as well as her siblings:  Ray Rathbone, Bernice Hollifield and Reid Rathbone.

She will be remembered as a loving woman who loved her family dearly.  She was a longtime active member of Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly where she served her Lord in many different ways.  Ms. Floyd was happiest outdoors especially working in her garden.  She loved her flowers and watching red birds in her yard.  Her love for the outdoors also led her and Donald on many camping trips to the mountains over the years.  She especially loved her three dogs.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children:  Dennis Floyd (Sandra), and Tina Skidmore (Terry); her sisters: Daisy Harper and Kitty Stowe; her grandchildren: Tim Loftin (Tanum), Shelley Gordon (Corey), Leighann Young (Jason), Josh Floyd (Berkeley), Melani Floyd, and Justin Caudle (Cris); as well as 13 great -grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly with Pastor Roger Overton officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday also at the Church.  Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
