Faye (Simmons) Marks

Faye Simmons Marks, 90, passed away peacefully in her home with her daughter Cindy by her side. She was welcomed into the arms of her beloved Jesus on Monday, January 30, 2023. Born in Hallsboro, NC, she was the daughter of Thelma Carroll Simmons and Irvin Jasper Simmons who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and David Simmons and her husband, John A. Marks.

Upon graduation from Hallsboro High School, she went on to earn a degree at Greensboro Women’s College. She worked many years as a purchasing agent for Federal Paper Company in Riegelwood, NC.

Faye spent many years attending and supporting Acme Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful member for years until she moved to Charlotte in 2018 to live closer to her daughter. Faye grew to love her new community of friends that lived within her apartment community. She spent many days and evenings playing games, attending parties, and getting to know her neighbors. She loved spending time with her family and was thrilled to spend time with her great granddaughter Oakley, whenever she could visit. She grew closer to the Lord and her faith was both tested and strengthened as she trusted Him to lead her through illness in her final days.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cindy Wilson and her husband, Cecil as well as her cherished sister, Verna Williamson; 2 stepchildren, Ron Marks and his wife, Deb and Mary Beth Bordeaux; 10 grandchildren, Brittany, Kinsey, Heidi, Matthew, Danielle, Rachel, Nathan, John Paul, Rebekah, and Stephen; and 12 great grandchildren, Oakley, Brady, Challis, Travis, Tyler, Sienna, Luke, Eliana, Elijah, Israel, Eve, and Ingrid.

A celebration of Faye’s life will be held at a later date at Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
