Frank Abernathy, age 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas. He was a lifelong resident of Mounty Holly and Gaston County, and he was the son of the late Howard and Lovenia Spargo Abernathy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lynda Conner Abernathy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Mark and Cathy Abernathy and Ellen and Ed Longmire; his siblings: Roger Abernathy (Donna), and Gayle Eaker (Herman), his sister in law Emily Reid (Neal), five granddaughters: Megan, Morgan (Tyler), Olivia (Chandler), Elissa, and Alexa, two great granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Belmont, as well as the staff at Robin Johnson Hospice House for their compassionate care for Frank. The family extends a very special thank you to the staff of Stress Free Home Care in Stanley for taking care of Frank the past couple of years.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday January 21, 2025 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Kinman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday also at the Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
