Fujiko Taba Clanton, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She was born in Nago, Okinawa, Japan, daughter of the late Kahei Taba and Makato Taba. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, David Sylvanas Clanton; her children, Jerry Clanton (Nicole), David Clanton (Robin), and Jimmy Clanton (Debbie); her grandchildren, Courtney Speicher (Jeremy), Kristen Williams (Elliott), Nicole Clanton, Jamie Clanton, and Jimmy Clanton; her great-grandchildren, Piper, Everett, Mason, Lleyton, Taylor, Brayden, Brooklyn, Raiden, Peyton, Isiah, and Carter. She also had seven siblings, Ritsuko, Sentoku, Yoshi, Takako, Kenko, Kazuko, and Katsuko.
Lovingly called Memaw by her grand and great-grandchildren, she adored her three sons and loved to dote on her family and friends. At four feet ten inches, she was a small, gentle soul with the righjt amount of feistiness for a woman who survived WWII and the American occupation of Okinawa as a young girl. She never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a hug. All who knew her loved her and felt the depths of her kindness. She lived her life in accordance with this Okinawan proverb:
Shikinoo chui shiihii shiru kurasuru. - Let's live helping each other in this world.
