Garry Richard Lucas, 69, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Jethro Leonard Lucas and Mae Holden Lucas.
Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Davis Lucas; his son, Brent Lucas (Amanda); his daughter, Brianne Lucas Baity (Christopher); his grandsons, Christopher Kale Baity, Kaden Baity, and Karson Baity; his siblings, Robert Lucas (Cathy), Kenneth Lucas (Sandy), Claude Lucas (Judy), Jethro Lucas, Jr. (Becky), Stephen Lucas (Evelyn), Victor Lucas (Teresa), and Cynthia Frost (Kenneth); his brother-in-law, Billy Joe Davis (Christy); his sister-in-law, Sandra Walker (Daniel); and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather whose life was marked by faith and service. A humble servant with a true servant's heart, he was always present for those he loved especially his family. He took genuine interest in the lives and struggles of others and was quick to offer help, encouragement, and prayer. He faithfully served his church and community, giving freely of his time and heart. He attended every activity for his children and grandchildren, showing his love through constant support and presence. We will miss him deeply here on earth and wish we could keep him with us, but we find comfort and hope in knowing we will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.
