Gastonia, NC - Gary Clark Barnett Sr., 73, passed away on January 16, 2024 in Gastonia NC. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1951.  Gary was a loving husband to his wife Debra for 51 years, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather.  After a 35 year career at Duke Energy, he enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family. He is greatly missed by all that loved him. 

Gary is survived by his wife Debra McAndrew Barnett, daughter Christy Moore (Josh), sons Gary Barnett Jr. and wife Tera, Kevin Ross Barnett and wife Beth, and grandchildren, Charlotte, River, and Everette. He cherished his brotherly friendship with Jerry Burgess and was thankful for years of phone conversations with friend and ex-coworker “Suitcase”.  He was also happy to have many good neighbors. 

Gary was predeceased by his parents Edward and Audrey Barnett, and his brother Robert.

A gathering, to celebrate Gary’s life, will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly, NC on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Animal League of Gaston County.
