Gary Gustin "Gus" Bowlin

Gary Gustin "Gus" Bowlin, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, with his wife by his side. A native of Ranlo, he was the son of the late Jarvis Floyd Bowlin and Nina Catherine Bowlin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Champion Bowlin; his daughter, Crystal Stephens and husband Mark; his son, Gary Bowlin II and wife Caitlin Larson; his grandchildren whom he adored greatly, Adam Stephens, Kelly Stephens, Jessica Stephens, Chandler Rhoads, Declan Larson, and Lorelai Bowlin; and his great grandson, August Stephens.

Gus is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Before his health declined, he was an active member, and Past Master, of the Lowell Masonic Lodge 590, a member of the Gastonia V.F.W, and previously served as a Ranlo Commissioner. He was also a member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Gastonia Health and Rehab as well as the staff at Gaston Hospice, for their outstanding and loving care of Mr. Bowlin and his family.

The family will greet guests from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church, 135 Lowell Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bowlin will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Spencer Mountain Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby. Woodlawn Funeral Home is caring for the Bowlin family.
