Gary Martin Obituary

Gary Randall Martin, 72, of Alexis, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born in Burke County, son of the late Johnnie Fletcher Martin and Eulala Carswell Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy, Don, and Jerry Martin; and a grandson baby Hayden. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rita Hutchins Martin; a special sister-in-law, Ruby H. Scoggin; children Christy Martin Oxendine and her husband Tony, Cindy Martin Pennington and her husband Clyde; step children Angie Frye Green and her husband Tom, Freddy Frye and his wife Sonya; a sister Peggy Dianne Martin; a brother John Derrick Martin; and grandchildren Justin, Jessie, Derek, Madeline, Garrett, Leah, Jordan, and Carson. A graveside service with military honors, to celebrate his life, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at Mount Zion Church Cemetery, 2151 Mt. Zion Church Road in Alexis. His body will lie in state at the graveside from 12:30 until the funeral hour. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
