Gavin Maddox Broome, 21, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He was born in Gaston County, son of Kimberly Smith Broome and the late Joshua Clayton Broome. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cameron Ray.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Kinsleigh Broome (Zachary Russ); his maternal grandparents, Randy and Vanessa Smith; his paternal grandparents, John and Karen Broome; his uncles, John Broome, Jr. (Adrianne) and Jack Bumgardner; his aunt, Nichole Muchler; his niece, Snow Ella Russ; his nephew, Noah Ray; his cousins, Kayla Seay (Trevor), and Sarah Broome May (Kayla); his best friend, John Hare; and very close friends, Zach, Michael, and Ally.
Gavin was sweet and quiet but always went out of his way to be there for his family and friends. He was known by his family to lookout after anyone and protect others. He was funny and he loved animals. A huge football fan, the Patriots were his favorite team. He loved video games and was learning to play the drums on his new electric drum set.
A service to celebrate Gavin's life will be held at a later date.
