Gerald Palmer Franklin

Gerald Palmer Franklin, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Burke County, NC, son of the late Joseph A. Franklin and Grace Orders Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Ann Hall Hunter; his sister, Elizabeth Brittian; and his brothers, Raymond Franklin, Tom Franklin, and Gus Franklin. Mr. Franklin was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle, Dallas.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice Lambert Franklin; his daughter, Pamela Funderburk; his son, Scott Franklin; his grandchildren, John Jones (Misty), Jennifer Byer (Ian), Cody Funderburk, Colton Franklin, and Allie Franklin; his great-grandchildren, Bohen, Sophia, Abbey, and Addie; his brother, Gene Franklin (Ruth) of Morganton, NC; his sister, Mary Jo Franklin Smith of Morganton, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Franklin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Independent Baptist Tabernacle, 2128 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service at the church.
