Jimmie "Grayson" Autry, age 72, passed away on Sunday December 31, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mecklenburg County and was the son of the late Jerry and Joann Gillen Autry. Grayson Worked in the water treatment industry for many years and was a proud U.S. Army veteran where he served as a Paratrooper. He was a loving family man who would always help any member of his family during their time of need. In his spare time, he was an avid motorcycle rider and also enjoyed restoring old motorcycles. He and his wife Diane enjoyed their years in Florida where they developed many long-lasting friendships with people who will miss Grayson dearly. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his favorite Uncle Max Gillen, as well as many cousins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved Wife of 45 years Diane Autry; his son David Moss; his beloved sister Toni Rankin (Joe); his grandchildren whom he cherished: Tyler Moss and his fiancé Eve Bradshaw and Alyssa Moss; his beloved niece Lacey Hicks; great niece Ava Seufert; his beloved Aunt Becky Gillen; his sister in law Teresa Rhyne (Jeff); his niece Jessie Medford (Eric); their children, Mackenzie and Tanner Medford; his brother in law Jimmy Cloninger and his daughters Sarah and Kayla; his longtime friend Duane Branham and his son Chance. as well as his MonkeyBoo Crew.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 13, 2024 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday also at the Funeral Home. The family would like to invite friends to a gathering at the Autry home immediately following the service: 176 Evans Lake Rd. Dallas, NC 28043.
