Harold Evon Bright, of Salisbury, NC, passed away into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on April 6, 2021, at Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.
Harold was born on August 12, 1942, in Richmond Virginia, to the late Alton Bright and Elinor Black. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Joe Bright.
Harold graduated from Patterson School for Boys in Lenoir NC, in 1960. Following graduation, he joined the US Air Force and served until 1964. Harold was employed by Southern Bell and transitioned to AT&T then to Lucent Technologies. He retired from American Fujikura, Ltd. In 2006. Afterwards he took a “retirement job” at Lowes Home Improvement in Mooresville where he worked for four years.
Harold was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Faith, NC, and served as an usher there.
Harold is survived by his wife Karen, of 31 years; his son, David Bright of Port Richey, FL, and his stepsons, Tim Van Dyke (Karen), Kannapolis, NC; Jody Van Dyke (Melia), Newport News, VA; Dan Van Dyke (Stacey), Glenview, IL, and Chad Van Dyke, (Gris), Goodyear, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Harold was known for his faith in God, his generous spirit, his winning smile and his unconditional love for family and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Harold will be held on Monday, April 12, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Faith, NC, 203 N Main Street. Pastors Stephen DeWalt and Jody Van Dyke will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery,1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy, Mt Holly, NC 28120.
The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church.
