Harold Herron

Harold Herron, 81, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at his home. He was born in Swain County, NC, son of the late Finley Herron and Ethel Kirkland Herron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sirmons Herron; his grandson, Virgil Bingham; his great-great grandson, Ryland Brooks; his son-in-law, Ted Zeigler; and a number of siblings.

Mr. Herron is survived by his children, Dorrie Zeigler, Teresa Moore (Pete), Beverly Morgan, and Melissa Clontz (Michael); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Herron; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to special friends, Nathan Anthony and Jason Cox for their efforts in caring for Harold over the years.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Herron will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p,m, until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
