Henry Bart Massey

Henry Bart Massey of Mount Holly, born October 30, 1933 and left for his heavenly home on June 1, 2021. 

Our dad, educator, and hero. There are so many lessons in life you taught us, none stand out more than love of family. All of those years bringing us camping in the mountains at Lakewood Campground to the later years at Ocean Lakes when they opened in the 1970's. You taught us the importance of life, family! 

In 1984 he bought some property in Supply, North Carolina where he later built a home which we all share. It's a home where you taught us to fish and how to enjoy the precious time we have together. He always enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, then the great grandkids came and lit up his life. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends on Wednesdays.  

He was honest and hardworking, a jack of all trades. He retired from Mason & Dixon Lines after 33 years, at the age of 53.  

Henry served as a paratrooper in the United States Army from September 7, 1956 until he was honorably discharged on September 5, 1958.

Henry is an avid NASCAR fan who spent time traveling the east coast to cheer on his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He watched his last race, the Coca-Cola 600 this past weekend. Henry loved all sports and was a big Duke Blue Devil Basketball fan. 

He and his wife celebrated 58 years of marriage and was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Earlene Lindsay Massey. He was also proceeded in death by his parents, Henry Hazel and Myrtle Mae Massey, sister Hazel Barnett and brother Donald Massey. Henry is survived by his daughters, Dian Ross, Connie Bradburn and husband Rex, Margaret Massey, Karen Smith and husband Mark, and Wendy Yow, including 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, along with special nephew Tim Massey and special friend Janie Black. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly, North Carolina.
