Irvin Lloyd Cartrette, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020. He was born in Columbus County, NC, son of the late John Calvin Cartrette and Annie Mae Carteret Cartrette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Edna Darlene "Lynn" Mason. He was a member of Catawba Free Will Baptist Church, where until his death he was the oldest living deacon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing guitar, and singing to the Lord.
Mr. Cartrette is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Mae Sarvis Cartrette; his children, Irvin Eugene Cartrette and Cynthia Mae Cartrette; his grandchildren, Amanda Clifton (Donnie), Kimberly Eubanks (Chris), Holly Davenport (Chris), and Alicia McLaud (Trey); his great-grandchildren, Zachary Clifton, Kirsten Clifton, Kelsie Eubanks, Hannah Eubanks, Zoey Cartrette, and Kenny McLaud; his nephews, Joseph Cartrette, Ricky Worley, and Carl Worley, and many other family and friends.
The Cartrette family will greet guests from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cartrette will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
Attendees of the visitation and funeral service are asked to wear appropriate face coverings.
