Jack Andrew Mercer, 91, of Mount Holly, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was born in Saint Marys, West Virginia to the late Abraham and Viola Mercer. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Helena; a son, Andy Mercer; granddaughter, Kisten Machuca; as well as four siblings. He served in the US Army and spent two tours during the Korean Conflict. Jack retired from Overnight Transportation after 26 years of service. He was a member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. Jack was also a Ham radio operator and enjoyed building and selling used computers. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Myrtlesue; children, Debra Mercer, Terri Mercer, and Steven Mercer (Cara); grandchildren, Justin Mercer, Megan McNish, Jesse Mercer, and Megan Flowers; great grandchildren, Mikaela Machuca, Carlos Mercer, Brayden Mercer, Lucas McNish, and Olivia McNish; as well as his brother in law, "Little" Joe Abernathy. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. A service to celebrate Jack's life will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly.
