Jean Roberts Loftin, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Worth David Roberts, Sr. and Ada Barnett Roberts Petty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Taylor Loftin, Sr., her granddaughter, Amy Noel Blackwelder; and her siblings, Frances Lowe, Jo Ingebritsen, Worth David Roberts, Jr., Betty Pendleton, Evelyn Pendleton, and Faye Clippard. She was affectionately known as Ms. Jean to her customers at their family store, Loftin's Grocery in Mount Holly. She later worked at Freightliner, where she retired in 1995. She was a lover and advocate of all animals.
Mrs. Loftin is survived by her children, Renee Loftin Clemmer (James), Emiley Loftin Pounder, Benny Loftin (Kim), and Kathey Loftin Brunetti (Louis); 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Loftin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. Her body will lie in repose on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. There will be no family present for the viewing.
