Jeanette (Starnes) Eller

May 2, 1937 ~ April 29, 2022 (age 84)

Obituary

Rena Jeanette Starnes Eller, 84, of Spencer and then Mount Holly and then Lucia, passed away on Friday April 29, 2022.  You could call her Nana, Nettie, Aunt Jeanette, Mom, or Net.  She answered to all, always smiled and always had something to say.  She was a 50+ year member of North Main Baptist Church and in later life rarely missed any of her favorite Sunday morning TV preachers.  Her life was her sermon “all the day long’.  She was a 20+ year payroll clerk for American & Effird Mills in Mt. Holly; and a very giving Avon lady for over 35 years.  She was fierce in her love for her family and her faith and as everyone very much knew, her beloved dog, Lola.  Everyone knew she was just a phone call away and she was never shy about keeping in touch regularly.  As she predicted, many will miss those phone calls.  She made it just 3 days shy of her 85th birthday making for a grand pearly gate’s one instead.

Jeanette was born in Rowan County to the late Sawyer Valentine Starnes and Mamie Kathleen Gobble Starnes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Eller; her brothers, Bert Starnes and Kenneth Starnes; and son-in-law Jeffery Peek.  Those left to cherish her memory include her 3 daughters, Lisa Eller (Mt. Holly), Jeaneane Peek and Jeff (preceeded in death) (Charlotte) and Dr Karen Eller and husband Joe Floyd (Beaufort SC).  Joys to her world were her grandchildren; Chelsea Deese and husband Daniel (Mt. Holly); April Woerner (Charlotte); Walker Floyd (LA, California) and Kirsten Floyd (Charleston, SC).  Great granddaughter Wren Elizabeth brought a special sparkle to Jeanette’s baby blues in her last few months.  Her family was large including 2 sisters; Betty Thompson (Salisbury) and Faye Merkt (China Grove) and aplenty in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was loved by many lifelong friends and will be genuinely missed by all.
