It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jimmy Allen Honeycutt, who departed this life on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, at the age of 73. Jimmy was born on Friday, April 17th, 1953, in Gastonia, NC, and spent his final years in Lawndale, NC.
Jimmy was a devoted father, beloved brother, and cherished friend, known for his infectious laugh and jovial spirit. He leaves behind his son, Jimmy Honeycutt Jr., and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, who will carry forward his legacy with love and pride. He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Honeycutt, Lisa Rector, and Lorie Wisniewski, all of whom meant the world to him.
Preceded in death by his parents, John Mason Honeycutt and Bessie Mae Tallent Rector, his brother David James Honeycutt, and nieces Rachel Ferguson and Shelly Ponder, Jimmy’s passing leaves a poignant emptiness in the lives of those he touched.
Educated in Gaston County Schools, Jimmy pursued a career as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Duke Power Co., where his dedication and work ethic quickly became a hallmark of his professional life. He also served in the United States Army.
Beyond his work, Jimmy was a passionate hot rod enthusiast, an avid hunter, and enjoyed countless hours tinkering in his shop. His love for the outdoors was further expressed through his gardening of produce. Known as a jokester, Jimmy's sense of humor and infectious laugh brought joy to everyone around him.
Arrangements have been graciously provided by Woodlawn Funeral Home. Mr. Honeycutt will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
