Joseph Edwin (Joe) Knight

Joseph (Joe) Edwin Knight, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late George Clinton Knight and Pearl Amye Sutton Knight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Clinton Knight, Jr. and a brother who passed away shortly after birth.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Joe never met a stranger, he was well known and loved by many. The life of the party and super at making you laugh. In his life he loved golf, run a pool table like no other and play black jack, but most will remember him singing and dancing. If there was a microphone around Joe would take the floor. He sang "Hello Darling" almost as much as Conway himself. The angels are enjoying listening to him sing now.

He is survived by his children, Amy Knight Laughinghouse (Steven), Shawn Morgan (Carla), and Joseph T. Knight; his grandchildren, Delaney Shinn, Layla Laughinghouse, Dalton Morgan, and Gavin Morgan; his sisters, Wanda Lingerfelt, Judy Hall, Linda Bowden (Alex), Mary Jane Bumgardner (Eddie), and Penny Knight; his former wife, Deborah Carpenter Knight; his sister-in-law, Lisa Knight; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Knight will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
