Joyce Elizabeth Sigmon

Joyce Elizabeth Sigmon, 86, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Rome Alfred Sigmon and Pearl Beal Sigmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in law, Leonard and Hazelene Sigmon.

She loved living in Chicago, where she resided for over forty years. She was an active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and enjoyed the Chicago Symphony. A lifelong learner, Joyce was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Loyola University of Chicago. Joyce loved traveling and seeing the world, having visited almost all 50 states and many different countries.

Ms. Sigmon is survived by her half-sister, Patricia Bradley and husband, Russell of Newton, NC; her nephews, Timothy Sigmon and wife, Gloria of Belmont, NC, and Joel Henley and fiance', Monica Turner of Mooresville, NC, along with their children, Bethany and Macy; her great-niece, Elizabeth Ashburner and her husband, Bryan of Belmont, NC, along with their child, Gracie; and great-nephew, Paul Lanier and his wife, Ashleigh of Belmont, NC, along with their children, Emma and Logan.

Services for Ms. Sigmon will be private.
