Judy (Carpenter) Henderson

Judy Carmen Carpenter Henderson, age 78, of Belmont, NC passed away on June 8, 2026, at Atrium Main Neuro ICU in Charlotte, NC. Judy C Henderson (Carpenter) was born on September 29, 1947, to the late Johnnie and Sadie Carpenter in Charlotte, NC. She attended Mt. Holly High School (Class of 1965) and then went on to study her prerequisite classes at Gaston College. She attended Belmont Abbey College where she graduated in 1970 with her B.A. in Business Economics. Judy dedicated over 30 years of hard work to the NC Employment Security Commission in Gastonia, Charlotte, and Concord. She managed and assisted during one of the largest layoffs in NC history with Pillowtex in 2003. After retiring, she worked at Gaston College teaching and tutoring students obtaining their GED’s, which was very rewarding and fulfilling for her.

Judy was a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and so many more amazing roles. She was the most hard-working, caring, and giving woman. She dedicated and sacrificed herself to her children and grandchildren, and she will always be remembered for how selfless she was. She enjoyed every minute spending time with her family, and that was who she was surrounded by when she took her last breath. She is survived by her children Dr. Angela Rasheed (Abdullah), and Michael Henderson (Lauren). Grandchildren Mohammed, Sara, Ayden, Ansley, Bexleigh, and extended grandchildren. Brothers Dr. John Carpenter, Joseph Daniel (Dan) Carpenter, David Christopher (Chris) Carpenter, and sister Sherry Walker. She is preceded in death by brother Timothy Carpenter and parents Johnnie and Sadie Carpenter.

The family would like to thank the efforts, care, and love given by Judy’s doctors, nurses, and staff from Atrium and Novant who took care of her during her health battles. Your work and dedication is very much appreciated and we are thankful for everything you did.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Henderson will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, The family will greet guests at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
