Katie Phillips Smith, 95, of Stanley, met Jesus face to face on Friday, August 18, 2023 while at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Royston, Georgia to the late Fred Franklin Phillips and Elizabeth Allen Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 9 siblings, Ruby, Robert, Dwain, Elmer, Omer, Emma, Julian, LT, and Betty, as well as her first husband of 54 years, Rev. Cecil P. Smith, Sr. Along with Rev. Smith, Katie was the Co-Founder of the Community Pentecostal Center where she played the organ for over 50 years and served faithfully in many capacities. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cecil "Sonny" Prince Smith, Jr., Pamela S. Graham (Charlie), and Cecilia S. McGinnis (Eddie); her grandchildren, Dane, Stephen, Taylor, Stefanie (Logan), Adrienne (Jason), and Philip (Ashley); great grandchildren, Hannah, Eli, Paxton, Madison, Morgan, Maecyn, and Olivia; her siblings, Gladell Adams, Joyce Kirk, and Donnie Elam; as well as her second husband and friend, Ed Sellers and his sons, Eddie (LeesAnn) and Jeff (Deneen). A special thank you from the family goes out to Jennifer McVickers, Susie Jenkins, and Paula Robb for your special care to Katie. The family will greet guests from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the Community Pentecostal Center, 320 Ralph Handsel Blvd, Stanley. A service to celebrate Katie's life will be held immediately following at 4:00 p.m., also at the church. Interment will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2023 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. Arrangements are in the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
