Kenneth Dale Smith, 55, of Shelby, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022. He was born in Mecklenburg County to Linda Johnson Furr and Leonard Curtis Smith. Kenneth was preceded in death by a nephew, Jonathan Cope; his stepdad, Mikey Furr; his father-in-law, Paul Michael Evans; his grandparents, Curtis and Hattie Smith and Roy and Edith Johnson; and his former in-laws, Jack and Jean Ford. Kenneth will be remembered as the life of the party everywhere he was. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and loved muscle cars. His favorite television show was Smallville, thus his love of Superman. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his wife Wendy; his children, Joshua Smith and his wife, Lynn, Craig Smith and his wife, Franchesca, Dalton Smith, Cody Smith, Jacob Smith, Sarah Smith, and Emma Smith; his step children, Adam Kottas, Noah Dedoming, and Danielle Dedoming; grandchildren, Nevaeh Smith, Christian Smith, Jayden Smith, Peyton Smith, Nikolai Smith, and C.J. Chaya; his siblings, Theresa Black, Sandra Craven and her husband, Grady, and Tracy Cope and her husband, Richard; step siblings, Tammy Moore, Lisa Furr, J.C. Furr, and Scotty Furr; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. A service to celebrate his life will be held immediately following at 2:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. Feel free to dress casual and include Superman attire.
