Roger Fisher, age 92, died September 17, 2025, at the family home. Roger was born in the community of Mariposa in east Lincoln County, North Carolina on December 11, 1932, to the late Ralph and Bonnie (Bumgarner) Fisher. In addition to his parents and his wife Ruby (McGinnis) he is preceded in death by brothers Larry and Brownie Fisher.
He is survived by his son Mark, brother Doug, and sisters Kay and Penny (Reid) along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
For 63 years he was married to the love of his life. Having been born less than a mile apart, there was never a time in their lives when they did not know each other. Roger and Ruby married after he completed his duty in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. They built the family home, had a son, and made a life together, living in the same community where they had both been born and raised.
Roger was a metal fabricator by trade. After working with business partner Jerry Carpenter at Lincoln County Fabricators for several years, he formed his own successful company, Anchor Machine and Stamping, beside the family home in Mariposa. He continued to work until his mid 80’s.
As a dedicated servant of God, Roger served the church in many roles. He was ordained as a deacon in the mid-1960’s and served at several churches during his lifetime most recently at Faith Baptist Church. He instilled in his family, and everyone he met, the importance of living a Christ-like life by emulating His character and actions through selfless love, humility, service, grace and compassion.
The family would like to thank Dr. Laura Schrader, Dr. Erika Vassil, and Dr. Michael Lund for their efforts to care for Roger during the final years of his life. They would also like to thank family friend Dr. Rhett Brown for his love and support. The care and compassion shown by the staff of VIA Healthcare-Hospice was truly remarkable and made Roger comfortable during his last days. Finally, the family would like to especially thank Ashley Reid and Sandra Heron for their tireless caregiving which helped him and his son so very much during this trying time.
The receiving of friends will be at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly, North Carolina on Tuesday September 23, 2025, at 1:00PM, immediately followed by the funeral at 2:00PM in the chapel at Woodlawn. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, also in Mt. Holly.
Instead of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Faith Baptist Church, 5194 Old Plank Road, Iron Station, NC 28080, in Roger’s name. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for Mr. Fisher's family.
