Kevin Eugene Trull, better known as Tootie, 53, of Gastonia, knocked on Heaven's door, Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Tootie left behind a yard full of his greatest treasures—at least according to him—which we are still standing around trying to figure out where to even begin. If it involved “I might need that one day,” chances are it’s still out there. If you knew Tootie, you know he never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back if it meant gaining your friendship, and once you were his friend, you were his friend for life. He was the life of every party, the loudest laugh in the room, and the guy who made sure no moment stayed serious for too long. One of his most legendary icebreakers—especially with his female friends (and yes, even their mothers)—was his unforgettable question: “What color panties you got on?” It was classic Tootie: shocking, hilarious, and somehow always delivered with a grin that made you laugh whether you wanted to or not.
Kevin was born in Mecklenburg County to Jane Williams of Gastonia and Paul Denton (Debbie) of Myrtle Beach. He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Mike Trull and Matt Trull—his best friends, his heart, and the people he missed the most. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Jane Williams; the love of his life, Deanie Watts; his three children, Kevin Trull (Kierston), Kalie Trull (Brandon), and Tara Sigman; his two precious granddaughters, Macy and Rhylee; brother, Jeffrey Denton and uncle, Tony Denton (Spring), nephew, Matthew Trull, nieces, Marissa Trull and Nichole Oates, and many cousins. If heaven has a party, Tootie is absolutely running it. He is now reunited with his brothers and friends who went on before him, laughing loud, telling stories, and finally free from pain. Though he will be deeply missed here, we take comfort in knowing he is whole again—celebrating, smiling, and exactly where he belongs.
To know Tootie was to love him… or at the very least, to have a story about him you’ll never forget.
