Kim Puckett Obituary

Kim Anita Toomey Puckett, 63, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.  She was born in Mecklenburg County as the oldest child of Perry R. Toomey and Betty Roberts Toomey.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Toomey.

Kim never met a stranger.  Wherever she went, she made friends.  Her gift was connecting with people- listening to their stories, and instantly making them feel like they belonged.  By the end of a conversation with Kim, you were no longer a stranger; you were a friend.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially with their travel buddies Taft and Michele Hammer.  She turned every trip into a memory, filled with laughter and fun.  She found joy in spending time with her friends, and did so often.  From dinners with Kyle and Caroline Taylor, card games with Rob and Kim Hall, and trips to the beach with Glenn and Teresa Daniels, she loved “her people” and being with them as often as she could.

At the heart of her life was her family.  She was a loving and faithful daughter whose life reflected an unwavering commitment to her parents.  She was a devoted mom and, truly, a best friend to her daughter, Lacey.  Her love was steady, unconditional, and always present.  She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Jimmy- her best friend and partner in every sense of the word.  Their marriage of 40 years was built on love, friendship, and a shared faith.  It was the foundation of her joy.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was central to who she was. It was the reason she found connection with others and the source of her laughter and love.  A longtime member of Tuckaseege Baptist Church, she lived her beliefs through kindness and love.  Throughout her life, her church family was instrumental to who she was as a daughter, wife, mother and friend.  All that knew her treasured their own “Kim Puckett” story.

With her passing, she is leaving behind a family and community who were deeply shaped by her kindness, her faith, and her extraordinary love for others.  Though she may be gone from our sight, she remains present in the friendships she formed, the faith she lived, and the love she gave so freely.

She is survived by those who love her dearly; her parents, Perry and Betty Toomey, her husband, Jimmy Puckett, her daughter, Lacey Puckett Skipper and her husband, Christopher, and a list of friends too long to name.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Tuckaseege Baptist Church at 1:00pm.  The family will gather in the fellowship hall after the service to receive friends.
