Larry Duckworth Obituary

Larry Eugene Duckworth, age 80, passed away on Monday April 28, 2025 at his home.  He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Claude Duckworth, and Pauline Kennedy Duckworth.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Robert Duckworth and his beloved dog Gus.

Larry will be remembered as a great man with a huge heart and an infectious smile.  He never met a stranger and was quick to give a thumbs up.  In his early years, he was a dirt track driver which led to lifelong passion for racing and led him to idolize Dale Earnhardt.  Sports also played a big part in his life.  He was an avid basketball and softball player and always loved to cheer on his favorite teams the Miami Dolphins, and the UNC Tar Heels.   He found happiness when he spent time with family and played an active role in all his grandkids and great grand kids lives.  His entire family will miss him dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Judy Duckworth; his children: Deborah Ross (Ronald), and Dana Holland (Jason); his grandchildren Steven Ross (Ashley), Nickie Puckett (Ross), Dalton Holland (girlfriend Savanna Ruff), and Kolby Holland, as well as his great grandchildren: Kaiden Lang, Sadie Puckett, Christopher Ross, and Jeremiah Ross.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to VIA Health Partners for their dedicated and compassionate care for Larry.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday May 3, 2025 at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to VIA Health Partners, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or to the American Cancer Society.
