Lee Roy "Pete" Grigg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born September 14, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late David Edward Grigg and Mary Tincy Blanton Grigg. He is preceded in death by his siblings Clarence Grigg, Dezzie Ramsaur, Charlie Grigg, Ethel Wright, Ezma Beam, Hazeline Kolody, Era Bella Gibson, as well as his wife, Carol Randall Grigg. Pete was a WWII veteran, serving in the navy on the USS O' Toole where he was a sonar man. He was a construction superintendent for F.N. Thompson, Inc in Charlotte for 30 years. Pete loved bluegrass music, playing his guitar, and mandolin for many groups down through the years. Pete loved the Lord Jesus Christ with his whole heart. He was a member of North Baptist Church of Mount Holly, North Carolina. Pete taught Sunday School for many years at Thomasboro Baptist Church, and later at Holly Hunter Baptist Church. He became a minister after retiring, working with the Baptist Men's Group. He also did lay renewals in many churches and worked in the prison ministry for years. Pete never met a stranger. Those left to cherish his memories include his children Terry Grigg (Kathy) of Stanley, Joey Grigg (Lou) of Stanley, Don Grigg (Susan) of Summerville, SC, June Grigg Barnhill (Blair) of Denver, and Rev. Jim Grigg (Jennifer) of Florence, SC. He was Paw Paw Pete to 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many, many friends. The family would like to thank Courtland Terrace for their care and love for our dad. Mr. Grigg will lie in repose from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Thrift Baptist Church, 8415 Moores Chapel Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. A service to celebrate his life will be held immediately following at 6:00, also at the church. A celebration of life fellowship, will conclude immediately following the service, in the church fellowship hall. A private family interment will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.
