Margareen “Margie” McCall Houston of Mt. Holly died February 6, 2026. She was born in Macon County to the late Rev. James Madison and Dovie Moss McCall.
With her witty sense of humor, Margie enjoyed joking with patrons at Hardee’s where she worked later in life until age 91. When not at work, her favorite pastimes were working crossword puzzles, watching game shows and spending time with family. She had a generous giving nature and loved to brighten someone’s day.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, James Shirley McCall, Richard McCall, and Christine “Teen” Wilson; her daughters Mary Clayton and Cathy Hoffman and her grandson, Jamie Eldridge.
Margie will be greatly missed by her survivors: her son, Chad Houston and his wife Cindy; her grandchildren, Keisha Eldridge, Heather Brockmann and her husband Ken; great-grand children, Jessica Houston, Kelsie Bryant and Jayden Eldridge and her beloved great great-grand children, Carter and Cason Culpepper.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Ms. Houston will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont. The family will greet guests from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
