Margie Bowling Obituary

Margie Louise Crawford Bowling, aged 78, of Charlotte, NC, died, early Sunday, November 2nd, from complications after a stroke. With her family surrounding her and just as time was falling back, she passed peacefully into the next life.

Margie was born in Mt Holly, NC, to the late Earnest and Hazelene Crawford. She is survived by her only child, Michele Bowling (husband César Vinalay-Ramirez), her two grandchildren, Mireya Vinalay-Bowling and Luis Vinalay-Bowling, all of Charlotte, her brother Ernie Crawford (wife Annette) of Mt Holly, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Bowling, and sisters Jean Auten, Muriel Hamrick, and Helen Mabrey.

Margie lived most of her life in Charlotte. She loved all people. She love talking to them and finding out about their lives. She was not bigoted or prejudice and did not tolerate such nonsense in her presence. She was beautiful inside and out. In her younger years, people always said that she looked like Cher. And with her long dark hair, large eyes, and angular face, she most certainly did.

When her first grandchild was born, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law to help raise her grandchildren. This was the delight of her life and she was as proud to be there for them as they were grateful for her presence. After her grandchildren were grown, she looked for something else to raise and love. She found that in her Rottweiler, Koda, who became her new baby.

She loved the beach and just 3 weeks prior to her death she had a wonderful vacation at North Myrtle Beach with her daughter.

A service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, November 29th at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt Holly. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Her ashes will be spread later in a private ceremony. If wished, donations may be made in her name to one of her two favorite charities, St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
