Marie Shoats Gardin, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday March 23, 2026. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Leonard Shoats and Betty Adams Shoats. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Constance Dillard, as well as her sisters Dorothy Partlowe, and Patricia Shoats.
Ms. Gardin loved the outdoors, especially working in her garden and was happiest around her flowers. She retired after 30 plus years of service at Superior Yarns. She will be remembered as a giving person who was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She was a person of strong faith and was a longtime member of New Providence Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Eric Gardin (Cynthia), and Beverly Gardin; her brother Leonard Shoats Jr., her bonus daughter Rita Adams; her special friend Elizabeth Graham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday March 27, 2026 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly with Pastor Tabatha Stanback officiating.
