Marilyn Frances Cavanagh

Marilyn Frances McCotter Cavanagh, 83, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was born in Wake County, daughter of the late Orson Richard McCotter and Frances Lee Lowe McCotter. Marilyn adventurously moved to Los Angeles in 1966 at age 27 where she met her husband Patrick Cavanagh. They later moved to Houston, Texas where she worked as an executive secretary for Dini Spheris until her retirement to Spartanburg, SC in 2004. Marilyn was active in her LDS faith and was an expert homemaker and avid Jeopardy player. She was followed shortly in death by her husband Patrick James Cavanagh. She was also preceded in death by her son, Brian Cavanagh and her brother, Lynn McCotter,

Mrs. Cavanagh is survived by her daughter, Carla Frances Cavanagh Howard; her grandchildren, Lauren Howard, and Trey Howard; her sisters, Nancy Killian and Suzan Loftin (Steve); her brothers, Steve McCotter (Becky) and Orson Lane McCotter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Cavanagh will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, NC. A graveside service for Mr. Cavanagh will follow at 2:00 pm. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for the Cavanagh family.
