Mary Ida Hudson Ashby, a beloved mother, grandmother, cherished friend, and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Friday, April 17th, 2026. She was born in Andalusia, AL to the late Marvin and Bernice Hudson. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Deborah Aycoth; her grandchildren, Krissa Aycoth and Corey Aycoth (Amber); her great-grandchildren, Zoey, Michael, Ella, Layla, Wyatt, and Waylon, all of whom were her pride and joy; and her special great-niece, Constance Fleming (Rodney) and their son, Christopher. The bond shared between Mary and her family was an inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to Mary's profound love and nurturing spirit.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mary’s life at a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. This date holds special significance as it would have marked Mary’s 96th birthday, a fitting tribute to a life well-lived.
Arrangements have been lovingly entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly, who ensured Mary's final farewell reflects the grace and dignity with which she led her life.
