Mary (Hillman) Breakfield

Mary H. Breakfield of Denver, North Carolina passed away on November 4, 2021, in Lincolnton. She was born on February 24, 1927, in Greene County, Mississippi to Celia and William Hillman. She was the eighth of nine children, six boys followed by three girls. She married the love of her life, David E. Breakfield, on December 1, 1945, and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage before he went to be with the Lord in 2011. Together they raised their pride and joy, David A. Breakfield, who joined his father in heaven in 2016. There is no doubt that Mary is enjoying their reunion!

Mary lived 94 active years. She frequently reminded those around her that she had a "go button" and it was always on. In her younger years, she built a successful real estate business and when most would retire, she joined the quilters' guild to learn a new skill and opened a store to sell her treasured yard sale finds. Mary loved being at the race track and enjoyed going to the races until the very end thanks to her dear friends, Crystal and Paul Neal.

Mary has been a member of Denver Baptist Church for many years. She loved her church family. Pastors Chris, Jeff, and Ken reminded her of God's great love over and over again. Diane Reel and Carlyn Orndorff were a beautiful picture of God's grace, mercy, and compassion when she needed it most.

Mary is survived by her younger sister, Maxine Daughdrill, and two granddaughters; Sheli Scarborough (Jason) of Orlando, FL, and Nicole DePietro (Alex) of Dallas, NC, four great-grandchildren, and family friends Cindy and Tim Mobberly of Maiden, NC, whom she loved like family and appreciated that they treated her like a part of theirs. She will be missed by many!

Mary’s funeral will be held graveside at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, North Carolina on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
