Mary Clementine Bame Earnheart, 92, passed peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Bame and Mary Hoffner Bame of Rowan County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Earnheart, Jr, and one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Thompson of Greensboro, NC; Anne Hux and husband, Wilson of Roanoke VA; and Linda Wishon and husband, Johnny of Sparta, NC; eight grandchildren and their spouses and partners; Taylor (Christi), Anna (John), Patricia (Chris), Ada (Clayton), Will (Alexandra), Lauren (Jesse), Bradford (Anne Marie), and Garrett; and nine great grandchildren.
Mary graduated from Boyden High School and Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. After traveling to Charlotte, NC, she began her career as a Special Education teacher. She loved working with students and their families, and she cherished her school friendships. Mary retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with 20 years of service.
Mary loved her church family. She gave with a servant’s heart in children’s Sunday school classes and among her friends in the United Methodist Women. There was not a barbeque, fish fry, or bake sale that did not have Miss Mary’s pound cake on the table for dessert. She will be remembered for the unconditional kindness, enthusiasm for life, and the love she shared with everyone.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on April 25, 2026 at 3:00 pm. The family will meet guests an hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 8020 Bellhaven Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
