Mary (Burleson) Upton

Mary Burleson Upton, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was born in Mitchell County, NC, daughter of the late Ira and Grace Hice Burleson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Darrell Upton; her son, Galen Upton; her granddaughter, Emily Upton; 5 sisters; and 4 brothers. Mrs. Upton enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Upton is survived by her daughter, Karen Upton; her sons, Daren Upton and his fiance' Kerry, Mark Upton and his wife, Lori; and Pamela Brigman and her husband, Thomas; her step-son, Rick Upton and his wife, Patricia; her brother, Phillip Burleson and his wife, Pat; her daughter-in-law, Charlene Upton; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Upton will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
