Mary Jane (Wingate) Walls

Mary Wingate Walls, 84, went home to be with her Lord Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.
Mary was born to the late Fitzhugh and Carrie Wingate on November 18, 1936, in North Belmont, NC.  She was a graduate from Belmont High School, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Eugene Walls. They lived and raised their 2 daughters in Mount Holly. She loved to travel but was happiest when spending time at their home away from home in North Myrtle Beach. She was extremely family oriented which was evident by her love and devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. But her first love was to her Lord and Savior. As a charter member of Ridgeview Baptist, she served over the years as WMU Director, choir member, Sunday school teacher and worked with the VBS program. But her greatest joy was serving her church on the benevolence and social committee by showing the hospitality of Christ to others.
She was preceded in death by husband, Eugene Walls. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Cynthia Woolbright (Michael) of Mount Holly, and Kelly Sikes (Gary) of Polkton, NC. Mary leaves behind four grandchildren Farran Rhyne (Cameron), Mekayla Sikes, Carson Sikes, Carrie Sikes, and one great grandchild, Landry Rhyne. She is also survived by her loving sister Catherine Wingate Derr of Charlotte, NC.
 A Celebration Service of Mary’s life will be held at Ridgeview Baptist Church on Saturday October 16th with viewing at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm with a private family graveside. Family suggests social distancing and mask.
The family would like to thank Interim HealthCare of Gastonia and Carolyn Thomas for their love and care of mom this year.
