Mary "Maggie" Vanamerongen Obituary

Mary "Maggie" Margaret Vanamerongen, 90, of Gaston County, NC, at long last joined her loving husband, William Vanamerongen, on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She passed peacefully at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. She was born in Syracuse, NY, daughter of the late Edwin Lee and Edna Mildred Emm Beard. In addition to her late husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Elenita Meyers, Donald Beard, Evelyn Amidon, Betty Rommes, Robert Beard, Jean Stuenzi, Edwin Beard, Richard Beard, and John (Jack) Beard.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Kathleen Beard and Ruth Reynolds; her son, David Kuc; her daughters, Karen Knotts and husband, Randy, and Patricia Bruce and husband, Paul; her grandchildren, Jolene Martin, Jamie Leone and finace', Stephen Drake, Stephen Sofranko and wife, Susan, Traci Sofranko, and Nicole Sofranko; her great-grandchildren, Zeth Denslow-Leone, Austin Martin, Branden Pope, Jack Sofranko, and Kelsie Sofranko; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, making personalized celebration candles, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family has elected to conduct a celebration of life memorial ceremony at a future date to ensure the inclusion and well-being of all participants. A special "Thanks" goes out to her extended family and friends at Brookdale Robinwood Assisted Living of Gastonia, NC, who befriended and took special care of her and made her last few years memorable.
